About
Welcome to the section about the crazy web guru behind this madness! My name is Elisabeth, as you’ve probably guessed by now.
I started designing webpages somewhere around the summer of 2000, so I guess you could say I’ve had a few years of experience. I actually got into this whole world wondering how to make “cool” graphics. I was hearing stuff about something called HTML around that same time. I really wasn’t planning to look very far into HTML, but one day, my mom was told me I was spending too much time on the computer. I’m sure you’ve all heard that before, especially if you own a website. Well anyway, I (of course) protested, and the only excuse I could think of was “But I can’t! I need more time to learn HTML!” I thought throwing a complex acronym in my plea would pursuade my mother to allow me to go on for more time, and just as I suspected, it did. “What’s HTML?” she asked. “Hyper-text Markup Language, what you make webpages with.” I responded. (At least I think I knew what it stood for then…) Well, the point is, I had only just printed out come beginner tutorials to see if I would really be interested in it. Next thing I knew, it was my “reason” for needing to be on the computer longer. My first few sites were nothing amazing, to my standards now, that is. Yet at the time, I was very proud of my webpages. But I followed through with it, and here I am today. I obviously did get quite interested in it, along with graphic design. And now, all because of that “slip” of the tongue, I may be considering furthering my studies in this area in college.
As for more stat-like info, I was born and currently live in Illinois, along with my parents and two younger brothers. I have been homeschooled since 2nd grade and am very grateful for the way my parents chose to raise me. I don’t want to write a novel about my beliefs, but to start, I am a Christian (Lutheran) since I was a baby and am a “fanatical” pro-life Republican. That should give you a pretty good idea about where I stand, right? Feel free to ask me anything you’d like on the subject, my mother is careful to make sure we’re all quite educated regarding our beliefs!
My passions include musical theater in general, acting, dancing (improving in that area), painting, writing, photography, any form of art, violin, reading (the classics, Jane Austen, Tolkien, and historical fiction to name a few), web and graphic design (of course), and classical/Broadway singing. I participated in productions of “Our Town” (Mrs. Webb), “The Best Christmas Pagent Ever” (Mrs. Armstrong), “Sleeping Beauty”* (chorus), “The Wizard of Oz”* (Wicked Witch of the West), “Annie”* (Hooverviller and New Yorker), and “Tom Sawyer”* (Townsperson). (The “*” denotes a musical production by Christian Youth Theater.) Needless to say, I enjoy theater very much! I am also considering a career in this area. However, I am cautious because most people associated with the entertainment business are…a little less conservative than myself. Following God’s rules is quite important to me.
My third big college-oriented interest is law and history. I find politics extremely interesting, as well as history. However, the large workload and dreaded BAR exam intimidate me a bit. I participated in a week long teen political event last spring, involving taking over my state captial building for a few days and moot court sessions. It was a very enlightening experience, and fun at the same time. If I were to be sucessful in the political world, I would definately be a State Senator. Representing my state’s people and fighting for what I believe in would be a hard, yet rewarding task.
I hope this summary gave you an idea of my character. If you have some of the same interests as me and would like to talk with me more, feel free to drop me an email! I’d love to talk with you.
